This is a short video that shows the three days of diving certification with Castaway Divers, the night life, and the amazing sunsets/sunrises. A Koh Lipe diving vacation is an excellent way to see the Thai culture and also see some beautiful dive sites and do some great snorkeling. The sunrises and sunsets on Koh Lipe (Maldives of Thailand) can be amazing. On the island there is literally a "sunset" and "sunrise" beach where you can go and be amazed each day. Though it is a little difficult to get to it, it is well worth the effort with lifetime memories waiting for you. Information about a vacation in Koh Lipe: ** Hotels: check with TripAdvisor (https://www.tripadvisor.com) and Expedia (https://www.expedia.com) for your hotels. Each has a rating system and reviews that can tell you a lot about the hotel. Take time to read the customer comments, they can help you really get an idea of the hotel. However don't let one comment change your mind. You will get your best deals from these two sites. Do your research - the hotel can make or break your vacation. Lots to choose from on Koh Lipe. We stayed at the Ricci House and enjoyed it (close to the beaches, nice rooms, convenient, wonderful staff). A good step to take is when you have narrowed it down to a couple of hotels come back to Youtube and do a search with "koh lipe" and the name of the hotel. A number of them either have made a video to promote their hotel or customers have uploaded videos that show the hotel/resort. ** Beaches: Koh Lipe has 4-5 really nice beaches. Pattaya is the main one and therefore the busiest. The sand is amazingly white and soft but lots of traffic. If you want to be where the action is choose Pattaya but if you want a little more relaxation and less people look at Sunrise or Sunset beaches. The sunrise and sunset beaches are appropriately named. Definitely take at least one night and head to sunset beach to watch the sunset (pics in the video). ** Getting There: We drove from Malaysia and took a "ferry" from Pak Bara pier. You can get to it from Langkawi as well. It can be a little confusing so do some research on getting there. **Food: One of the things that makes Koh Lipe a fun vacation spot is the amount and variety of restaurants and places to eat."Walking Street" is something to do each night for the fun of all that is offered. Try all the different treats and snacks with coconut in it. Many of the restaurants do have wifi for that night check in with friends and family. **Dogs: There are a lot of dogs on the island. You just have to be okay with seeing them all over the place. No problems with them but they are around. **Trash Hero: Unfortunately the popularity of Koh Lipe has brought trash with it. You will see it around the island in a lot of different places. There is hope as efforts are being made. Be a "Trash Hero" which is done every Monday. Get involved in helping with this problem especially if you have kids (great teaching moment) ** Family Friendly: Koh Lipe offers a lot of night life and lots of fun options. That said it is also much more family friendly then some of the other more famous vacation spots in Thailand. While there we did not see any of that around which was a pleasant surprise. ** When To Go: May to October is the low season so the prices are a lot better and there are less people. A number of the dive shops will offer free accommodations if you do some significant diving with them in the low season. Be careful though as some of the shops put you in some really low end places when they are footing the bill. Ask them where you will be staying if they provide the accommodations and do some research on it.
